Been catching up with my reading these days on the journey to and from work. It makes travelling time pass by quickly. I found this book at home, interestingly Sis bought it. She only reads motivational stuff as far as I’m concern so I was surprised she bought this book.

I couldn’t put it down at all cause it was so attention grabbing that I had to keep reading on non-stop. But the ending was too painful for me. I think I almost cried. It’s based on the life of this English girl and her lover – Rudolph Valentino a 1920s actor. To my surprise, he actually exists when I googled him cause at the end of the book, there were a few news articles on him. And he was considered a really hot star in those days. Too bad he died young due to sickness which ended his career.
I actually got the spooks while I googled his photos. There’s even a photo of him in his coffin but its too eerie.
The story is fictitious but it almost seemed real to read about the relationship with him and Lola.
I guessed the main reason why I loved it was also because the story was set in America in the 1920s. Ever since I watched Vampire Diaries on the part where Stefan met Klaus and Rebekah for the first time at a club/bar/pub, I have been intrigued by that era. Their fashion, how they lived, their lifestyles, movies, music etc. Like everything! I think the girls were glamorously simple yet elegant. If they were pretty, they were really pretty. Cause there was no photoshop then.
Sighhh how nice would it be if I was born in that era. In those times, movies were silent. Silent. Yet people could watch them like how we watch movies in 3D now. So fascinating. I tried watching a few of the Rudolph Valentino’s movies on Youtube, beautiful as it is, it was hard to understand the story.
Okay I should stop obsessing over them. 4th day at work and I’m finally slightly busier. Boss is going overseas tomorrow till Monday, so if I have nothing to do, means I really have nothing to do. So I’m taking my own sweet time sending out stuff. haha. Anyway, there were already bimbotic moments. I tried to make an appointment for the large intestine scan, but I had the wrong number. I called the cardiac (heart) clinic. Lol. Think I offended the receptionist for making her book and then called back to cancel cause wrong clinic, wrong doctor.
